RITES Limited Age Limit Details:
Maximum Age Limit: The maximum age limit prescribed for the post of Senior Technical Assistant is 40 years as on the last date of online application submission, i.e., 12 November 2025. Candidates exceeding this limit are not eligible to apply. This rule applies uniformly across all engineering disciplines and regions. Any candidate crossing the upper age limit, even by one day, will be disqualified. RITES
Age Calculation Date: The age of the applicant will be calculated as of the closing date of application submission. This ensures uniformity in the recruitment process for all candidates. The cutoff date mentioned in the official notification is final and cannot be changed. Candidates are advised to check their age eligibility before applying online. Age mentioned in the matriculation certificate will be treated as official proof.
Age Relaxation for OBC Candidates: Candidates belonging to the Other Backward Class (Non-Creamy Layer) category are entitled to an age relaxation of 3 years beyond the upper limit. This means OBC candidates can apply up to 43 years of age. The relaxation applies only to those who submit a valid OBC (NCL) certificate. The certificate must not be older than one year as of the cutoff date. Without proper documentation, the candidate will be treated as a general category applicant.
Age Relaxation for SC/ST Candidates: Applicants belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) or Scheduled Tribes (ST) will get 5 years of relaxation in the maximum age limit. Therefore, SC/ST candidates can apply up to 45 years of age. The relaxation is applicable only for posts reserved for these categories. In case of unreserved posts, they must meet the general age criteria. Candidates must submit a valid caste certificate issued by competent authorities.
Age Relaxation for PwBD Candidates: Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are eligible for 10 years of upper age relaxation. This means PwBD candidates can apply up to 50 years of age if all other conditions are met. The disability must be at least 40% and verified by a government medical board. Candidates must upload the disability certificate in the prescribed format. RITES will not accept certificates issued by unrecognized authorities.
Age Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen: Ex-Servicemen candidates are provided age relaxation as per Government of India guidelines. The relaxation is typically equivalent to the duration of military service plus three additional years. However, the total age should not exceed the maximum permissible limit. This benefit is subject to submission of valid discharge certificates. The advantage applies only once for central government recruitment.
Age Relaxation for J&K Domicile Candidates: Candidates who were domiciled in Jammu & Kashmir during 1.1.1980 to 31.12.1989 are eligible for an additional 5-year relaxation. This benefit applies irrespective of category (UR/OBC/SC/ST). Applicants must produce the domicile certificate issued by the J&K authority. This relaxation is granted as per Government policy for those affected by disturbances. Without valid proof, the general age criteria will be applied.
Proof of Date of Birth: The Matriculation (10th Class) certificate is the only valid proof of age. Other documents like Aadhaar, PAN, or Voter ID are not accepted for age verification. Candidates must ensure that the date of birth matches the matriculation record. Discrepancies between documents may lead to disqualification. RITES will not entertain any request for change of date of birth once submitted.
No Additional Age Concessions: Apart from the standard relaxations mentioned, no extra concession will be granted. Requests for special relaxation due to personal or professional reasons will not be considered. All candidates must strictly adhere to the age rules laid out in the official notice. Any relaxation not supported by documentary proof will be rejected. These norms are fixed to ensure transparency and equal opportunity.
Importance of Age Criteria: The age limit is one of the most crucial eligibility factors in RITES recruitment. Candidates should verify their eligibility carefully before applying. Any false declaration of age may lead to cancellation of candidature. The management reserves full rights to reject any ineligible application. Hence, applicants must ensure their age fits within the allowed range before final submission.

Final Merit Preparation: The final merit list will be prepared strictly based on written exam marks. No additional marks or weightage will be given for higher education or experience. In case of a tie, the candidate with higher age will be given preference. If still unresolved, alphabetical order of name may be used for tie-breaking. Only candidates from the merit list will be empanelled for future deployment. RITES
Empanelment and Deployment: After verification, candidates will be placed in an empanelled list. Empanelment does not guarantee an immediate job posting. Appointments will be made as per project requirements and company needs. Selected candidates will be deployed region-wise depending on vacancy and workload. The panel will remain valid for a limited period as decided by RITES.
Nature of Employment: The appointment is purely on a contractual basis for an initial period of one year. The tenure may be extended based on project duration and candidate performance. The engagement will end automatically once the project concludes. Candidates must meet medical fitness standards before joining duty. All appointments are subject to verification of credentials and suitability.
Medical Fitness Test: Selected candidates will have to undergo a medical examination as per RITES rules. Only those found medically fit will be issued the final appointment letter. The medical test ensures the candidate’s fitness for field and technical work. Failure to clear the medical test will lead to cancellation of candidature. Candidates must bear any personal expenses related to medical checks. RITES
