RRB NTPC Recruitment 2025 Notification Eligibility Apply Online Salary Details

The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) under the Government of India, Ministry of Railways have released the official Centralised Employment Notice (CEN No. 06/2025 & 07/2025) for Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) recruitment. This notification covers both Graduate and Undergraduate level posts with a total of 8872 vacancies across Indian Railways. Candidates who wish to secure a stable government job in Railways can apply online within the given dates. Applications will be accepted only through online mode.

Vacancy Details:

Graduate Level Vacancies (5817 Posts):

• At the graduate level, the following posts are available
• Station Master – 615 vacancies under Traffic (Operating) department.
• Goods Train Manager – 3423 vacancies under Traffic (Operating).
• Traffic Assistant (Metro Railway) – 59 vacancies under Traffic (Operating).
• Chief Commercial-cum-Ticket Supervisor (CCTS) – 161 vacancies under Traffic (Commercial).
• Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist (JAA) – 921 vacancies under Accounts department.
• Senior Clerk cum Typist – 638 vacancies under General category.
  In total, there are 5817 vacancies at the graduate level.

Undergraduate Level Vacancies (3055 Posts):

• For candidates eligible under the 10+2 qualification category, the following posts are available:
• Commercial cum Ticket Clerk – 2170 vacancies.
• Accounts Clerk cum Typist – 885 vacancies.
• Junior Clerk cum Typist – 1600 vacancies.
• Trains Clerk – 400 vacancies.
  This makes a total of 3055 vacancies for undergraduate posts.

Age Limit Details:

Minimum Age Requirement: The minimum age for candidates applying to Undergraduate NTPC posts is 18 years. For Graduate NTPC posts, the same lower age limit of 18 years is applicable. Maximum Age for General Category: For both Graduate and Undergraduate NTPC posts, the maximum age limit is 36 years as on 01 January 2023. Candidates beyond this age are not eligible to apply, regardless of their qualification level. This age cap is kept to maintain a balance between youth employment and experience. OBC Category Age Relaxation: Candidates belonging to the Other Backward Classes (OBC-Non Creamy Layer) are given age relaxation. They can apply up to 3 years beyond the upper age limit. Age for Railway Staff & Quasi-Administrative Employees: Current railway employees and staff working in quasi-administrative offices like railway canteens or institutes are given a higher age limit. Age for Widows, Divorced Women & Judicially Separated Women: Women candidates who are widows, divorced, or judicially separated and not remarried also get special consideration. Age Calculation Reference Date: The crucial date for calculating the age of candidates is 01 January 2023. All candidates must check their date of birth as per their matriculation or equivalent certificate. Even a small difference in date can lead to disqualification. Importance of Age Criteria in Selection: Age limit is one of the most important eligibility factors for RRB NTPC 2025. Even if a candidate has the required qualifications but does not fall under the prescribed age criteria, they cannot participate in the recruitment. Application Fee Details:

General / OBC Candidates: Candidates belonging to the General (Unreserved) and OBC (Other Backward Classes) categories are required to pay an application fee of ₹500. Fee Refund Policy: The RRB has introduced a fee refund system for candidates who appear in the Computer-Based Test (CBT). For candidates who paid ₹500, an amount of ₹400 will be refunded after they appear in the exam. For candidates who paid ₹250, the full amount will be refunded after appearing in the exam.

Mode of Payment: The application fee must be paid online only. Candidates can use Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI services. No offline payment such as Demand Draft, Money Order, or Cash will be accepted. (RRB NTPC)

Important Note: Candidates must ensure that the payment is successful before submitting the application form. Educational Qualification Details:

Qualification for Graduate Posts: For Graduate level posts, candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university. The degree can be in any discipline, provided it is issued by a government-recognized institution. Final-year students whose results are not yet declared are not eligible to apply.

Qualification for Station Master: To apply for the post of Station Master, candidates must hold a graduation degree in any stream. Since this is a supervisory and operational role, no specific subject is required. However, good communication skills and decision-making abilities will be highly beneficial for this post.

Qualification for Goods Train Manager: The Goods Train Manager post also requires a graduation degree in any discipline. This role mainly involves the management of goods trains, checking train loads, and ensuring safety during operations. Candidates with analytical and organizational skills will have an advantage.

Qualification for Traffic Assistant: The post of Traffic Assistant (Metro Railway) is open for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in any subject. The job includes assisting in traffic control and scheduling. A candidate should have basic computer knowledge to perform duties efficiently in metro operations.

Qualification for Chief Commercial-cum-Ticket Supervisor: The CCTS post also requires a graduate degree. Qualification for Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist (JAA): For JAA posts, candidates must be graduates with a good understanding of accounts and typing. Qualification for Senior Clerk cum Typist: The Senior Clerk cum Typist position requires a graduate degree. Qualification for Undergraduate Posts: For Undergraduate level NTPC posts, the minimum requirement is 10+2 (Intermediate) or its equivalent from a recognized board. Candidates who have only completed matriculation (10th class) are not eligible. Passing 12th standard with any stream is mandatory.

Qualification for Clerk and Typist Posts: For posts like Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, and Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, candidates must have completed 10+2. Additionally, typing skill requirements are specified for clerk-level posts. A good speed in typing is important during selection.

Qualification for Trains Clerk Post: The Trains Clerk post also requires a 10+2 pass certificate. The job involves maintaining train records, checking documents, and assisting in traffic control operations. Candidates with mathematics or commerce background may find this role easier, though it is not compulsory.

Selection Process Details:

Computer Based Test (CBT – Stage 1): The first stage of the selection process is the Computer Based Test (CBT-1). This exam is common for all posts and mainly acts as a screening test. The exam will have multiple-choice questions from subjects like General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence & Reasoning. The duration will be 90 minutes.

Computer Based Test (CBT – Stage 2): Candidates who qualify CBT-1 will be shortlisted for CBT-2. This test is more detailed and specific to the post applied for. It includes questions from Mathematics, General Awareness, Reasoning, and Current Affairs. The difficulty level of CBT-2 is higher compared to the first stage.

Normalization of Marks: Since RRB exams are conducted in multiple sessions, there may be slight variations in difficulty. Typing Skill Test: For posts like Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Senior Clerk cum Typist, and Junior Accounts Assistant, a Typing Skill Test is mandatory. Candidates must be able to type at least 30 words per minute in English or 25 words per minute in Hindi. This test is qualifying in nature.

Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): For certain posts like Station Master and Traffic Assistant, candidates must appear for a Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). This test evaluates decision-making, logical thinking, and multitasking ability. Importantly, no relaxation in CBAT is provided for any category.

Document Verification (DV): Candidates who clear the required CBTs, skill tests, or aptitude tests are called for Document Verification. In this stage, all original certificates such as educational qualification, caste certificate, age proof, and identity documents are thoroughly checked. Medical Examination: After document verification, shortlisted candidates must undergo a Medical Fitness Test conducted by Railway Medical Authorities. The standards vary depending on the post. Final Merit List Preparation: The final merit list is prepared based on performance in CBT-2, skill tests (if applicable), and aptitude tests. Salary for Graduate Level Posts: Graduate-level posts in NTPC carry higher pay levels compared to undergraduate posts. Salaries generally range from ₹25,000 to ₹35,000 per month depending on the position. In addition, employees also receive multiple allowances that increase the in-hand salary.

Station Master Salary: The post of Station Master falls under Pay Level 6. The basic pay starts at around ₹35,400 per month. With allowances like HRA, DA, and transport allowance, the monthly salary may go above ₹45,000 in some zones. Station Masters also receive promotion opportunities.

Goods Train Manager Salary: The Goods Train Manager (GTM) post is placed in Pay Level 5. The basic pay is ₹29,200 per month. With allowances, the in-hand salary usually comes between ₹35,000 to ₹40,000. GTMs also get benefits like night duty allowance and running allowance. (RRB NTPC)

Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist (JAA) Salary: For JAA, the pay level is 5, with a basic salary of ₹29,200 per month. With allowances, the take-home pay is approximately ₹35,000 to ₹38,000. Other Undergraduate Posts Salary: Posts like Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Clerk cum Typist, and Trains Clerk are in Pay Level 2 and 3. Their basic pay ranges from ₹19,900 to ₹21,700. Including DA, HRA, and other allowances, the monthly salary usually comes between ₹25,000 and ₹30,000.
